I would just like to point out something shocking about Apple’s premium iCloud accounts:
If payment of your monthly subscription fails for some reason (suspected card fraud, lost card etc etc), Apple downgrades your account the same day!
This is utterly shocking to me. Apple encourages you to upload your entire digital life to iCloud, documents pics everything, but they’ll halt the service at a moment’s notice because of something as trivial as a failed payment, without giving you a chance to organise alternative payment. Here in South Africa you can only pay by credit card, and as it happens I have to wait 2 weeks to get my new card.
Dropbox waits 2 weeks before taking such drastic action. I know because my card was accidentally cancelled. Apple and Dropbox couldn’t take payment these past two days. Dropbox are giving me until 14 Feb to sort it out.
